Opening hours and live music

The club opens late, and the hours depend on the day.

Sunday to Wednesday

Open 11:00–24:00.

Thursday

Open 11:00–01:00.

Friday and Saturday

Open 11:00–02:00.

When the music starts

The prices and times page says live music begins at 11:15 every day. Another page on the club's site says 11:30. Treat the start time as approximate and arrive a little later if you want to see a full set.

Check the current timetable before you go, especially on event days.

Age rules and families

Daytime visits suit families, evenings are for adults.

Daytime

Families are welcome during the day. Anyone under 18 must stay with an adult the whole time.

After 20:00

Under-18s are not admitted after 20:00, even with an adult.

Evening shows

Live Lounge evening shows, such as Saturday with the Beatles and tribute band nights, are for ages 18 and over.

Cavern Club or Cavern Pub?

The two are easy to mix up. The Cavern Club is the paid-entry venue described on this page. The Cavern Pub is a separate bar with free entry, its own music programme and its own opening hours.

The Live Lounge hosts ticketed shows. A Live Lounge ticket includes general entry to the club, but general entry does not include a special concert. If a particular show matters to you, buy that ticket in advance.

The Magical Mystery Tour bus ends at the Cavern Club and Mathew Street. On the day of your tour, basic club entry is included, except during International Beatleweek. Special concerts are not covered. Our Beatles tours guide compares the tour with walking tours.

Fit the Cavern into your Liverpool day

Mathew Street works best as a late-morning stop or an evening visit.

With The Beatles Story

See the museum at the Albert Dock in the morning, then walk to Mathew Street for lunchtime music. Read about the Beatles Story for prices and slots.

By train

Lime Street station is the arrival point for long-distance trains. The club is in the city centre, so a short walk or taxi ride gets you there.

From the airport

Bus 500 runs from John Lennon Airport to Liverpool ONE, roughly every 30 minutes in the daytime. From there it is a walk.

For a night out

Check the age rules above, especially if you travel with teenagers. Evening Live Lounge shows are 18 and over.
