The Beatles Story at a glance
The Beatles Story is a museum about the band, and it sits at Royal Albert Dock, a short walk from the river and the Pier Head. It is one of the easiest Beatles stops to reach on foot from the city centre, unlike the childhood homes and Strawberry Field, which lie out in the suburbs.
Entry is by timed slot, so book ahead if you can. The audio guide is included in the ticket and comes in 12 languages, German among them. Prices below are the adult and concession rates for 2026.

Liverpool Beatles museum: how it fits with other Beatles sites
People searching for a Liverpool Beatles museum usually mean this one, but the city has several Beatles stops. They are separate tickets and separate places, so it helps to see them side by side.
| Place | Area | Price in 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| The Beatles Story | Royal Albert Dock | £20 adult |
| Cavern Club | Mathew Street | £6 adult entry |
| Magical Mystery Tour bus | Starts at the Dock, ends at the Cavern | £21.95 adult, 2 hours |
| Strawberry Field | Woolton | £12.45 adult |
| Beatles childhood homes | Woolton and Allerton | £37 adult, non-member |

Plan the day around the Albert Dock
A simple order that avoids doubling back.
Morning: the museum
Book an early slot. The museum opens at 09:00 in winter. Allow a good part of the morning, and use the audio guide at your own pace.
Midday: the waterfront
Walk along the dock and out to the Pier Head, where the Beatles bronze statue stands. Our Royal Albert Dock guide covers what is open nearby.
Afternoon: Mathew Street
Finish at the Cavern Club. Live music starts from about 11:15, and general entry is paid at the door.
A second day for the suburbs
Strawberry Field and the childhood homes need a bus or a tour. See the Beatles tours guide for the options.
Other museums on the dock are not open to visitors. Tate Liverpool is closed for rebuilding, with a reopening planned for 2027. The Merseyside Maritime Museum and the International Slavery Museum are also closed, with a reopening planned for 2028. Do not plan around any of the three.
Getting there
The dock is on the Liverpool waterfront.
From Lime Street station
Direct trains from London Euston and Manchester Airport arrive at Lime Street. From there, take a bus or taxi to the dock, or walk down through the city centre.
From the airport
Bus 500 runs between John Lennon Airport and Liverpool ONE, roughly every 30 minutes in the daytime, and takes about 34 minutes in the timetable example. Allow for traffic.
By sightseeing bus
The City Explorer open-top bus starts at Royal Albert Dock on Gower Street. Until 29 November 2026 the first bus leaves at 10:00 and the last at 15:00. There are no tours from 30 November 2026 to 31 January 2027.

The Beatles Story: frequently asked questions
How much does The Beatles Story cost in 2026?
Adults pay £20, seniors and students £16, and children aged 5 to 15 pay £11. The audio guide is included.
Do I need to book in advance?
Booking online is advised, as entry is by timed slot. If you arrive without a ticket, you can buy one at a card payment kiosk for the next free slot. Cash is not taken.
Is there an audio guide in German?
Yes. The included audio guide comes in 12 languages, and German is one of them.
How long should I allow?
Plan for a good part of a morning or afternoon. The museum is self-paced, so the time depends on how much of the audio guide you use.
Is it step-free?
The entrance lift has been reported out of service, so access cannot be promised. Ask the museum about access before you travel.
Can I visit Penny Lane and Strawberry Field on the same trip?
Yes, but they are outside the centre. Penny Lane is a public street. Strawberry Field is in Woolton and has its own ticket. A Beatles bus or walking tour links several sites, and the tours page compares them.
